Record Numbers at Topper Traveller SLYC

Strangford LoughYC attracted a record 92 boats for the penultimate Topper Traveller event of the year; the competitors were treated to sparkling seas, blue skies and a brisk force 4 which the leading boats revelled in.

After three days of strong winds, the final day of the Zhik Laser National Championships was always forecast for light breeze before strengthening in the afternoon. Race Officer Robin Gray attempted several early starts but the wind kept shifting from side to side and it was early afternoon before things settled

RYA NI Chairman John Taggart is calling on the public to submit their nominations by the 29th August to be in with a chance of being shortlisted. The 2014 awards will highlight, promote and reward the good work carried out by clubs and individuals, encouraging participation, development and excellence in sailing and boating.


Three squads of RYA NI sailors have successfully competed at two major events this week, the Topper Worlds in Pwllheli, Wales and the UK Laser Nationals in Largs, Scotland.
