James Espey misses out on Olympic place

RYANI sailor James Espey has sadly missed out on the chance to represent Ireland in his second Olympic Games.

The Bangor born sailor represented Ireland in the Laser Class at London 2012 and qualified the Irish boat for Rio 2016 by finishing 40th overall at the 2014 Sailing Word Championships in Santander, Spain.

Sailing and boating clubs across Northern Ireland have opened their doors to hundreds of visitors this week and are encouraging many more to join in the fun this weekend with a chance to try out sailing and watersports for free.

Royal Yachting Association Northern Ireland clubs are taking part in the Push the Boat Out Project, which is now in its fifth year. A wide range of sailing events and open days will take place at clubs across the Province until May 22.

Bell claims Optimist Leinster title
