RYA  POWERBOAT INSTRUCTOR SKILLS ASSESSMENT DAY

This assessment is now mandatory and must be successfully completed before entry onto a Level 2 Powerboat Instructor course.  There will be a RYA Level 2 Coastal Powerboat Instructor course run in the Autumn – details to follow.

This skills assessment will require a high standard of personal powerboat driving and seamanship skills along with a detailed knowledge of all the elements covered within the Powerboat Level 2 (coastal) syllabus.

Eligibility: Powerboat level 2 (Coastal or Inland)

Minimum age: 16 years

Candidates who successfully complete either of the above courses are invited to apply to RYA NI for a training grant towards the cost of the course. The maximum amount of grant support will be 50% of the course cost

Kinnego Marina Courses

VHF/DSC One day course cost £120 .00 including lunch, handbooks and Certificate (£25.00) date 20th May 2008 09.30hrs to 17.30hrs 

The Short Range Certificate (‘SRC’) is the radio operator qualification which authorises the holder to operate a VHF

radiotelephone, fitted with Digital Selective Calling (‘DSC’) on board any British vessel which is voluntarily fitted with radio equipment 

First Aid One day course cost £120.00 including lunch, First Aid manual and Certificate 

date 10th June 2008 @ 09.30hrs to 17.30hrs This course is designed to provide a working knowledge of first aid for all those who go afloat, on inland waters or up to 60 miles offshore. The syllabus is based on the recommendations of the Health and Safety Executive and the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.

The certificate fulfils the requirements of the MCA Code of Practice for the skippers of small commercial vessels up to category 2 and for all RYA practical instructors.

Powerboat Level 2 Two day course on the following dates. Cost £190.00 including lunch, log book, Start Powerboat handbook & Certificate

All courses are from 0930hrs to 1630hrs each day. All courses are on Wednesday's & Thursday's only three places on each

This is the most popular course that we teach. It is aimed at both those new to boating who want to develop the base skills

but also those who have boated for a while but who want to ensure they are approaching their boating the right way. There is no need to have Level 1

Powerboat Intermediate Day Cruising Course on the following dates. Cost £190.00 including lunch, log book, Powerboat handbook & Certificate

All courses are from 0930hrs to 1700hrs each day. All courses are on Wednesday's & Thursday's only three places on each 

  Alternatively known as the Powerboat Day Cruising Course the Intermediate course is

 aimed at those who have boated a season or more, probably already have Level 2

 and want  to learn more about coastal cruising. It focuses on navigation  and passage planning

Personal Water Craft Certificate. Cost £140.00 including lunch, log book, Course handbook & Certificate

One day course on Fridays from 0930hrs 17.00hrs      YOU NEED YOUR OWN PWC FOR THIS COURSE

The course teaches you how to use your PW safely, responsibly and with confidence, ensuring that you get the best out of it.

It covers high and low speed skills, safety information, collision avoidance and orientation at sea.
