In 2004 RYANI became a company limited by guarantee. At the top of the organisational structure is the RYANI Council with overall responsibility for strategy and policy and comprising representatives of RYA affiliated clubs and other organisations e.g. marina berth holders associations. The Council elects annually four officers - Chairman, Vice Chairman, Hon, Secretary and Hon. Treasurer. The Chairmen of the three standing committees, Development, Performance and Education, Safety and Training, join these four officers to form the Executive Committee. These seven people (maximum) are the Directors of RYANI. In addition the immediate past Chairman is a member of the Executive Committee for a further year following his/her term of office. The Executive Committee is responsible to the Council for inter alia: the implementation of approved strategy and policies; assuring effective systems of governance, accountability and internal control, and performance monitoring and reporting.
