espey secures personal best at Laser Europeans

James Espey, BYC, has secured a personal best at the Laser European Championships, Hourtin FRA, in the lead up the Olympic Games later this month.

Finishing 31st overall, Espey showed some good form across a variety of conditions and achieved his best result at the European Championships to date. 
Speaking about the event, James said  “I am happy with the overall result, but more importantly progressing elements I have been working on to best prepare for the Games.  I am looking forward to the start of the Olympics at the end of this month”.

Espey will be representing Ireland in the men’s Laser class at the Games, which start on the 29th July in Weymouth.  He is supported by the Mary Peters Trust and the SportNI Athlete Investment Programme
