The squad are helping launch the Irish Topper Nationals 2011at Ballyholme YC on 8-10th July supported by North Down Borough Council Tourism. The event expects to attract over 120 Toppers with the full RYA GB Squad travelling over to the event.

The Topper dinghy is the main youth dinghy class in Northern Ireland with a very busy calendar throughout the year of regional and national championships, Topper Traveller events, and RYA NI Squad and Open Pathway training. Many of our Olympic hopefuls started in Topper dinghies - Ballyholme Yacht Club currently have James Espey in the Laser, and Ryan Seaton and Matt McGovern in the 49er hoping for qualification for London 2012 Olympics. The Topper World Championships comes to the National Yacht Club, Dublin later this summer. 
The RYA GB squad arrive for training next Tuesday. Local hopefulTim Brow from Ballyholme YC  has lately come back from the UK with the Eric Twiname trophy for the Topper Class. The Northern Ireland squad was the leading Topper team overall. 

The Irish ISA Topper squad also arrive this weekend (1st - 3rd July ) for weekend training, with Open training sessions also available for all on 6th and 7th July.
